Itโs a short sentence, but it is in itself quite powerful as it reflects the peace at the heart of Vinland Saga. Thorfinnโs journey has led him through pain, growth, and redemption, making Makoto Yukimuraโs magnum opus a masterpiece in the Seinen demography. Fans have loved the protagonistโs deep emotional transformation from a vengeful teenager filled with hatred and rage to an adult with inner peace, learning to let go and yearn for a world without hatred.
Unfortunately, like every good thing coming to an end, Vinland Saga too came to an end on July 25, 2025, with a journey spanning over two decades. Vinland Sagaโs epic story was first serialized on April 13, 2005, and has been collected into 28 tankobon volumes. As the manga concludes, Vinland Saga leaves behind more than a legacy, leaving behind a message of serenity, hope, and the quiet power of a soul that seeks no enemies.

Thorfinn has been through multiple ventures in the past 20 years, with most of them causing him pain. However, it has helped him become a better person and to know the significance of peace. He always wanted to find Vinland, a land of reverie, and now he has finally made it.
With the official news coming from the mangaka, Vinland Saga concluded on July 25, 2025, with the release of the 220th chapter of the manga. The final chapter was included within the September issue of Kodanshaโs Monthly Afternoon. Vinland Saga currently has 28 volumes, with Volume 29 scheduled to release on September 22, 2025. While the manga has reached its conclusion, fans can still relive Thorfinnโs story through the anime, which is ongoing.
What Is The Story Of Vinland Saga?
Vinland Saga follows the journey of Thorfinn, the son of a former Viking Thors. Unfortunately, after witnessing his fatherโs death at the hands of a mercenary group led by Askeladd, he vowed to get his revenge against them. He stayed on their ship and slowly became a part, with revenge always on his mind. However, by going through different situations and experiencing various emotions, Thorfinn started to change. He started to value peace more than anything, which led to his desire to find Vinland.

Vinland Sagaโs Final Arc Befits The Narrative
Vinland Sagaโs final arc is named Thousand Year Voyage, and it follows Thorfinnโs final journey to his desired place. While it may look like Thorfinn took countless years to reach Vinland, it is just a thought. According to the creator, Thorfinnโs goal is not immediately achievable and might take him years. It can so happen that he fails to reach his goals, but that does not mean he should never try. It is a way to peace, and only through preaching and uniting humanity can one achieve it.
