There was a lot of speculation surrounding the release of the movie since it had been a decade since the movie was announced. Most of the fans had lost all hope, but out of nowhere, Aniplex released the trailer and got them excited again. Who is Yasuomi Umetsu?
Virgin Punk’s Clockwork Girl has been the talking point of the fans, especially after the trailer was released four months back. Yasuomi Umetsu returns as a director on an animation project nearly after 10 years. He is a multi-talented Japanese writer, director, animator, and storyboard artist.
His previous works as a director include A Kite(1998), Mezzo Forte(2000), Wizard Barristers(2014), etc. He has worked as a key animator on famous titles like Akira, Bleach(ep 24), Bungo Stray Dogs(ED), and many more. He has a particular art style that has always piqued the interest of the audience. It has a natural touch to it, and Clockwork Girl’s trailer had the same art style. Apart from the art style, the animation brought back the 90s animation vibe with a smooth experience and no over-the-top moments.
Virgin Punk’s Clockwork Girl Plot
The plot is also quite intriguing, featuring a young girl, Ubu, as the protagonist. Amidst her internal turmoil, Ubu finds herself living the life of a bounty hunter. Even though her life got engulfed with chaos and problems, Ubu thrives in that life. As her bounty hunter life progressed, she is pulled in the chaos and desires of more powerful and eccentric individuals.

Virgin Punk‘s Clockwork Girl trailer mentions the year 2099 AD and a medical artificial human body creation technology – Somatia, but nothing more substantial has been revealed. How many movies will be in the series, and no schedule has been provided as of yet.
