Wind Breaker Season 2 concluded with episode 12 on June 19, 2025. The anime was highly praised for its intense fighting sequences and the transformation of delinquents. Season 2 featured the Roppo Ichiza/GRAVEL arc, which not only featured great fights but also captured the emotional aspect of the characters. Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever, and the fans had to bid goodbye to the anime for now and go back to waiting for Wind Breaker Season 3.

However, amidst all the sadness, the franchise announced its first live-action movie. Kentaro Hagiwara will direct the movie, Yoshitaka Kamo is the producer, and Yosuke Masaike will handle the screenplay. Wind Breaker Live-Action movie will be distributed under Warner Bros. Pictures. Right after Wind Breaker Season 2โ€™s conclusion, the Wind Breaker Live-Action movie has been confirmed, and it is scheduled to be released later in 2025.

Wind Breaker Live-Action cast

Haruka Sakura Is Coming To The Big Screens

In December 2025, the Wind Breaker Live-Action movie will be released! Initially, the official sources revealed the information through a 15-second teaser, which featured a gang war between Bofurin and Shishitoren, and a key visual. The key visual featured six Bofurin members with their backs facing the camera. On June 25, 2025, Warner Bros. released the second teaser, which featured the face reveal of the characters and a deep dive into the fighting sequences. The six members from the initial key visual were Haruka Sakura, Hayato Suou, Akihiro Nirei, Kyoutaro Sugishita, Touma Hiiragi, and Hajime Umemiya.

The fans were quite pleased to watch Haruka Sakuraโ€™s character development become more emotionally stable, rather than just clobbering rival gang members. Now, they will be overjoyed to experience it on the big screens. Unfortunately, the release dates, Japanese and International, have not been revealed yet.

Wind Breaker Live-Action Cast

The second teaser of Wind Breaker Live-Action revealed the cast. Here are their names along with their comments on their upcoming project.

  • Kouji Minakami โ€“ Haruka Sakura

I am Mizukami Koji, who played the role of Sakura Haruka. Basically, in this forum, I have to make a comment that will inspire everyone who reads this comment to watch the film, and present my intentions for appearing in this film. However, I am now thinking about what some of the veteran film directors of the past said: “I left what I wanted to say in the film.” I will stop complaining here, but this film is a delinquent film unique to the Reiwa era. The way it is expressed and perceived has changed from the delinquent films of my youth, and I feel the changing times. While feeling nostalgic, I will never forget the days when I rushed forward every day (filming) like Sakura Haruka, together with many staff members, towards a new era. Please look forward to further updates. Please look forward to my complaints again.

  • Kido Daisho โ€“ Akihiko Nirei

When I read the original manga, I felt like I was seeing a new, never-before-seen image of a Yankee. I was deeply moved by the way they fought to “protect” the town and its people, and by every word they uttered. When I found out that I would be able to take part in a live-action adaptation of “WIND BREAKER” as Nirei Akihiko, I was really happy. The exhilarating action scenes, of course, but also the heartwarming conversations between the characters, are a major highlight of this work. Please enjoy the charm of “WIND BREAKER” on the big screen!

  • Hirohisa Tsuna โ€“ Su Junfeiย Fang/ Hayato Suo

I am Tsuna Hirohisa, who played the role of Su Fang Junfei. I love the original work and I love Su Fang, so I remember being overjoyed when I was chosen for the role. What I wanted to keep in mind when making this live-action film was that because I love it, I didn’t want to just imitate it. I was conscious of acting after thinking about the meaning of this role, which only I can play. When I was worried, director Hagiwara-san was very sincere with all the actors, so he saved me in many scenes. I was really happy to be able to create this work together this time. It was so much fun to see each of us living our roles on set. Wind Breaker was created with my passionate co-stars and the staff. I hope that watching this movie will warm your heart even a little in the winter. I think that after watching it, you won’t feel like “I want to fight” but rather “I want to hug my friend’s shoulder”. Please look forward to the movie “WIND BREAKER”!

  • Junon (BE:FIRST) โ€“ Kyoutaro Sugishita

I am JUNON from BE:FIRST, and I will be playing the role of Kyotaro Sugishita. I had seen “WIND BREAKER,” so I was very surprised when I heard about the role, but I was also happy. Kyotaro Sugishita, who I played, is a silent, seemingly violent character who is also obedient to the head of the company, but in a sense he also has comedic elements, so I felt it was difficult to know how to portray him in live action. This was my first time working on a film, so I was full of anxiety and tension before filming began, but I learned a lot from my co-stars’ acting and how they approached their roles through filming. The set was really warm, and it saved me a lot. I hope everyone will love this work.

  • Motoki Nakazawa โ€“ Hiragi Touma

Despite his appearance, Toma Hiiragi is a character who has a kinder heart than anyone else and is able to act for others. As an upperclassman, I played the role while being conscious of his motherly position that brings the first-year students together. I hope you will support Hiiragi, who carries stomach medicine with him and does his best, even though he is pushed around by the idiosyncratic members of Boufuurin. The film is full of detailed psychological portrayals, beautiful images, and powerful action scenes that only a live-action film can provide. I hope you will be able to immerse yourself in the world of Windbreaker! And since it was shot entirely on location in Okinawa, I communicated a lot with the cast and staff while tackling this project, so I hope you will look forward to its release!

  • Shuhei Uesugi โ€“ Hajime Umemiya

Before filming began, I spoke with Director Hagiwara and we said, “This film does not glorify fighting or make your heart swell with violence. Instead, let’s make a film that makes you think of someone close to you when you leave the cinema and feel like you want to protect them.” We faced the challenge of trying our best to protect people and places during filming. I feel that Umemiya’s strength in accepting and trying to understand others may seem selfish to some, but the main reason he was able to forge ahead believing only in what he holds dear was because he received incredible energy from all the other cast members. With the best cast, staff, and environment, I think we were able to create a meaningful work in which humans can act. Please take a look! (All the scenes shot in the storm were tough.)

What To Expect From Wind Breaker Live-Action Movie?

While it is unknown what story the movie will follow, the teaser exclusively featured a fight between Bofuring and Shishitoren at the shopping avenue. There were several members from either gang, and they could be identified by the gang crests and the color of their jackets.

Shishitoren wore a bright yellow jacket, with Bofurin showing up in their green jackets. As far as the teaser goes, the movie will likely follow the Shishitoren arc from the manga. The arc was featured in Wind Breaker Season 1, but the excitement of watching it on the big screens is second to none. However, no official information has been revealed, so nothing can be said as of now.
