Nowadays, as regional entertainment formats are going mainstream, people are experiencing newer and unique plots that have them mesmerized. Following the same line of delivering unique plots, Aniplex, BeDream, and Bilibili came together for the anime adaptation of the Chinese-Japanese original Donghua series, To Be Hero X. To Be Hero X is directed by Li Haoling, known for the popular Donghua series Link Click.
Following the To Be Hero series, To Be Hero X is the third installment of the series with an independent storyline, with the previous two being To Be Hero and To Be Heroine. The most exciting thing about the anime is its plot, which revolves around two things โ Trust value and Fear value. While trust seems to be a part of the majority of anime like My Hero Academia and One Punch Man, where trust values boost the heroesโ morale and fear value makes the villains more potent, To Be Hero X changed it to give it a new meaning.
Trust Can Make Heroes In To Be Hero X

Trust plays a tricky role in the series as it can make a hero with awesome superpowers, as well as turn the hero into a common man. In Li Haolingโs To Be Hero X, if the public believes that a certain individual can fly, the person ends up attaining that ability. People having trust in him/her is what granted the powers in the first place. However, if they incur some doubt or question their abilities, they will lose them because of their lack of trust.
Also, trust has another crucial aspect in the anime. Based on the data collected by the peopleโs trust, the heroes are ranked. Every two years, there is a tournament where the top heroes compete. The winner earns the trust of all the people, automatically making them rank the highest. The top-ranked hero is given the title of โX.โ
Fear Value is the Most Fearsome Aspect of To Be Hero X

Fear has always led individuals to lose confidence or end up doing bad things. However, in To Be Hero X, the creator has used the same concept from a different perspective. Instead of focusing on the heroes, he shifted the spotlight to the villains. With the villains doing evil work, it will create fear amongst the public, and people cannot help themselves from getting scared.
So for villains, instead of the trust factor, fear works. The more people fear them, the more their powers will increase, making them invincible. While fear has always led to an increase in the popularity of the villains, To Be Hero X went a bit further to make them stronger. The belief system in the anime is directly proportional to the power meter.
