After much waiting, Clevatess anime premiered on July 2, 2025, on Crunchyroll. Yuji Iwahara’s magnum opus was announced exactly one year ago on July 2, 2024. In the first episode, it revealed the four likely antagonists of the series, who are known as the Four Lords of Dark Beasts. Each lord of the dark beast rules a cardinal region, and these areas are inhabited by wild beasts who prey upon humans. For centuries, these regions have been out of the reach of humanity, with no one being able to stand against them. Clevatess Episode 1 featured the first Lord of Dark Beasts, Clevatess, also known as the King of Magical Beasts.

Who Is Clevatess?
Clevatess is one of the Four Lords of Dark Beasts and the guardian of the Moon Mountain. He is a Ram with a lion’s mane, a unicorn horn, and several tails with pointed ends. His eyes are red, and when attacking, his mane glows with a bright yellow color. Clevatess is an excessively large beast with its horn bigger than that of humans.
When the Hiden King presented a group of 13 Heroes with the legendary Flame Blades, they went to slay the four Lords of Dark Beasts, starting with Clevatess. After entering Celvatess’ domain, they were attacked by other beasts, but the heroes defeated them without much difficulty. However, when it was time to face the magical beast, they failed instantly. Clevatess is more than a few centuries old, having fought a humanoid almost a thousand years ago.
His specialty is controlling others’ shadows, and using them, he killed most of the heroes in an instant. He also used his tentacle-like tails to dismember them. Only Alicia Greyfall managed to land a hit, but it only left a small scar on Clevatess’ horn, because she too suffered a brutal fate. It showcased Clevatess’ abilities, and how the Lord of Dark Beast barely had to do anything to defeat a squad of heroes chosen by the Hiden King.
Who Are The Other Three Lord of Dark Beasts?
Apart from Clevatess, here is the list containing the information about the other Three Lord of Dark Beasts:
Zavthier
Zavthier of Phastasms, often called Zavthier of the Mist, is the ruler of the Great Western Forest and one of the Four Lords of Dark Beasts. She is the only female out of the four and rules the West side. She has protected the People of the Forest, Orggs, for generations, and they worship her. Zavthier is the only Dark Beast King to have a proper relationship with humans. She excels at illusionary magic and is often seen in her humanoid form with wings sprouting from her ankles.
Vordein
Vordein is the ruler of the Dragons, and the North of Eslinn falls under his kingdom. He can take the form of a battle-scarred dragon, and the multi-eyes are his striking feature. While his abilities remain unexplored, he is known to create familiars from his blood, similar to Clevatess.
Laswell
Laswell rules the East, and nothing is known about him. He is speculated to look like a Sea Monster and possesses unworldly strength like his fellow Beast Kings.
