Who’s Who in Special Fire Force Company 8

Fire Force has a total of eight Special Fire Force brigades, with the eighth one being the latest. Unlike the others, the Fire Force Company 8 was organized hastily to discover the secrets behind Spontaneous Human Combustion and take care of the souls of the Infernals. Even though they are tasked with a tough job, they do not have a proper research division and are lacking in numbers. The group is captained by Akitaru Obi, with the main protagonist, Shinra Kusakabe, being one of the members.

Here is the list of all the members of Fire Force Company 8 from Atsushi Ohkubo’s magnum opus.

1. Akitaru Obi

• Role: Captain
• Ability: Non-Powered Human
• Anime Debut: Season 1 Episode 1

Akitaru Obi is a non-powered human, but his leadership qualities and super-human strength helped him become the Captain of Special Fire Force Company 8. He follows a rigorous exercise routine to keep himself in shape, and at times, he is shown to lift things weighing more than his body weight. A staunch believer in justice, Obi is quite ethical and isn’t afraid to face Infernals to save the citizens.

2. Takehisa Hinawa

• Role: Lieutenant
• Ability: Second Generation Pyrokinetic, Hand-to-hand Combat
• Anime Debut: Season 1 Episode 1

While Akitaru Obi is the captain of the Special Fire Force Company 8, it is Takehisa Hinawa who keeps everyone in their place. He has a strict personality and keeps Shinra and Arthur under control. Being a second-generation pyrokinetic, he is great at manipulating and controlling fire, making him a great asset to the group. Hinawa was a Sergeant in the Armed Forces, but later was asked by Obi to join his crew.

3. Shinra Kusakabe

• Role: Fire Soldier
• Ability: Third Generation Pyrokinetic, Enhanced Eyesight, Immense Durability, Immense Speed, Immense Strength
• Anime Debut: Season 1 Episode 1

Shinra Kusakabe is the main protagonist of Atsushi Ohkubo’s Fire Force and fits the description of a typical Shonen protagonist. He is one of the strongest soldiers in the group, having awakened his Adolla Link, Adolla Grace, and Adolla Burst. Shinra’s flame techniques are quite potent, and they can knock down powerful individuals. After witnessing his mother and brother perish in a fire, he decided to join the Fire Force and save people from experiencing the same fate.

4. Arthur Boyle

• Role: Fire Soldier
• Ability: Third Generation Pyrokinetic, Immense Speed, Immense Durability, Immense Strength, Immense Stamina
• Anime Debut: Season 1 Episode 2

Arthur Boyle, like Shinra, is one of the strongest individuals in the Fire Force. His attacks are powerful enough to defeat an Infernal. With practice and experience, he is expected to become more potent and currently can ignite his Excalibur just like a lightsaber, making it a deadly weapon. The blonde fire soldier is seen as a rival to Shinra, with both of them engaging in friendly battles quite often.

5. Iris

• Role: Sister
• Abilities: Prayer for Infernals
• Anime Debut: Season 1 Episode 1

Iris is a blonde woman with blue eyes and a member of the Special Fire Force Company 8, even though she is not a fire soldier. Initially, she was a nun of the Holy Sol Temple and then carried her kind-heartedness and religious faith to Obi’s team. LATOM!

6. Maki Oze

• Role: Fire Officer
• Abilities: Second Generation Pyrokinetic
• Anime Debut: Season 1 Episode 1

Maki Oze is the daughter of General Oze, and before joining the Special Fire Force Company 8, she was enlisted in the Tokyo Army. Even though she does not possess the ability to create fire, her control over fire is impressive. Maki can hold off against multiple Third Generation Pyrokinetics with ease, and with Adolla getting closer to Earth, her powers are exponentially rising.

7. Tamaki Kotatsu

• Role: Fire Officer
• Abilities: Third Generation Pyrokinetic, Enhanced Speed & Durability
• Anime Debut: Season 1 Episode 3

Tamaki Kotatsu was initially affiliated with Special Fire Force Company 1, but since she was under the traitor, Rekka Hoshimiya, she was sent to Special Fire Force Company 8 to be disciplined. Her Ignition Abilities help her gain cat-like traits, and she named it “Nekomata.” Even though she is a strong Fire Soldier, she has a weakness called Lucky Lewd Syndrome, which causes her to experience embarrassing moments like getting stripped.

8. Viktor Licht

• Role: Scientist
• Abilities: Non-Powered Human
• Anime Debut: Season 1 Episode 3

Viktor Licht is a slim and tall guy with an afro and drowsy eyes. Being a scientist, he wears a white coat, and even though he is practically useless in battles, his intellect helps others in overcoming troubles. Viktor uses his scientific intellect to create weapons to fight against the Infernals and run tests to improve the overall strength of the brigade. Before joining Special Fire Force Company 8, he was a scientist at Haijima Industries.

9. Vulcan Joseph

• Role: Engineer
• Abilities: Non-Powered Human
• Anime Debut: Season 1 Episode 15

Vulcan Joseph is the third non-powered human in Special Fire Force Company 8 after Akitaru Obi and Viktor Licht. However, that does not stop him from being weak since he maintains a rigorous training regime to engage in physical battles. Vulcan is extremely passionate about engineering and is an animal lover. He even had a workshop before joining Company 8.

10. Lisa Isaribi

• Role: Technician
• Abilities: Third Generation Pyrokinetic
• Anime Debut: Season 1 Episode 15

Lisa Isaribi used to work in Vulcan Joseph’s workshop before joining Special Fire Force Company 8. She is a redhead with orange eyes. Lisa’s Ignition ability allows her to make tentacle-like flames that can grapple others or land blows on them. Even though she had difficulty in choosing sides, she ultimately chose Fire Force Company 8 to be her home.
