After Chainsaw Man Part One concluded, most people thought it was the end of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s magnum opus. However, the mangaka returned with an extension of the manga. Chainsaw chapter 189 was released recently, and the fans experienced something weird.
Chainsaw Man fans always have to deal with something bizarre due to its plot, but chapter 189 gives them a different kind of weirdness. After reading the chapter, the fandom asked what the future holds for Denji, Asa, and Yoru, especially after getting stuck in a place created by the Aging Devil. People who have not read the manga will be shocked to know that Chainsaw Man chapter 189 featured a clone of Fumiko Mifune.
Surprise! Enters Fumiko’s Clone in CSM 189
Fumiko Mifune is one of the side characters in Chainsaw Man. She was assigned by Yoshida to work as the bodyguard of Denji, mainly to restrict him from transforming into the Chainsaw Man. Being a Public Safety Devil Hunter did not stop her from causing trouble for Denji and Nayuta. Even in chapter 189, she was supporting the Public Safety Devil Hunters Association. The organization made a contract with the Aging Devil.
According to the contract, the Aging Devil would let herself be devoured by the Chainsaw Devil, if the organization sacrificed 10,000 children between ages 0-9 years, who held Japanese citizenship. However, Chainsaw Devil was against this and did not want to devour the Aging Devil. When it charged the Aging Devil, the latter used the standby Public Safety Devil Hunters to fight against the Chainsaw Devil.
Each one of them willingly contracted the Devil in exchange for their body parts. Fumiko Mifune was especially enthusiastic and with each strike, she lost organs, ultimately collapsing and dying. While she was dying, another character came to her side. When the panel shifted to the character, fans saw it was Fumiko Mifune. Her dialogue confirmed that the one dying was also her. The entire scenario left the fans puzzled.

Speculation Surrounding The Clone Fumiko Mifune
Fumiko Mifune’s death came out of nowhere in Chainsaw Man chapter 189. But, the arrival of her clone is what had people scratching their heads. There are several possibilities that can happen in this situation. The most plausible one seems to be the arrival of the Death Devil. The second Fumiko is speculated to be the Death Devil. Chainsaw Man part 2 is mostly about stopping the “Prophecy of Nostradamus,” which states the Death Devil coming on to Earth. However, that might have already happened.
Like Yoru, who holds control over Asa Mitaka, the Death Devil might be doing the same with Fumiko. There were other instances when Ear and Mouth disappeared after the Chainsaw Devil devoured them. Only the Four Horsemen could know that they were missing their mouth. Apart from Yoru, Fumiko also seemed to have noticed it.
But, the second Fumiko, who is speculated to be the Death Devil, might not let her die since she controls ‘Death.’ Also, fans might have noticed a sudden personality change in Fumiko. She has portrayed two different personalities in a span of seconds. It resembles Yoru and Asa Mitaka, who share the same body but have different personalities.
It is possible that the human host does not have any proper or legal contract with the Devils. Illegal contracts can happen in many situations, and Fumiko might have contracted the eldest sister of the Four Horsemen in such a situation. Moreover, while the first Fumiko was dying, the second one (likely to be the Death Devil) was least bothered since she has control over ‘death.’

Chainsaw Man has been trending on top of the Shueisha’s Manga Plus for some time. With the latest chapter, they are sure to spend some more time on top. After the latest chapter, fans are eagerly waiting for Chainsaw Man chapter 190. The upcoming chapter might reveal how the clone came into existence or their original identity. Fumiko’s role was a supporting antagonist. It will be interesting to how she takes up the antagonist role amidst the devil chaos.
