Yaiba was one of the most loved anime of the early 1990s. Case Closed creator Gosho Aoyama wrote and illustrated the manga, which marked his second creation to be animated. Yaiba was first serialized by the Weekly Shonen Sunday on September 7, 1988, and concluded on December 1, 1993, and was collected in 24 Volumes.
While serializing, the manga was adapted into anime, which was broadcast on TXN. Even though it was a short anime, it gained massive popularity and is still talked about. It was announced WIT Studio planned to bring back Yaiba sometime in the future. After much waiting, Weekly Shonen Sunday TV released the trailer of Yaiba: Samurai Legend, confirming the release date along with the Opening Theme “Blade” by BLUE ENCOUNT under Sony Music Labels Inc.
When Will Yaiba: Samurai Legend Release?
WIT Studioโs Yaiba remake, Yaiba: Samurai Legend, will premiere on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 17:30 JST. The anime will be broadcast on Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV nationwide network. The original Yaiba anime had 52 episodes, but it is unclear whether the remake will have the exact number of episodes or alter it.
What Is The Plot Of Yaiba: Samurai Legend?
Yaiba: Samurai Legend follows the story of Yaiba Kurogane, a wild samurai boy who lives with his father, Kenjuro, in the forest. However, when a group of gorillas attacked them, they hid in a box of pineapples that were being transported to the city. The protagonist discovers that he is a legendary warrior and meets Takeshi Onimaru.
Takeshi Onimaru obtains the โLegendary Demon Sword,โ and Yaiba has to fight him. Throughout his journey, the protagonist meets new people who inspire and train him to become a better warrior and a human being. However, later in his journey, he has to face powerful foes and has to bear the burden of saving the world from evil forces.
Nationwide Advance Screening Event Announced For Yaiba: Samurai Legend
With WIT Studioโs Yaiba: Samurai Legend releasing on April 5, 2025, a nationwide advance screening event has been announced. The screening event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 13, 2025, and fans can enjoy episodes 1-3 during the event, starting at 18:30 and ending at 19:50 JST. There will also be an exclusive round-table video during the event.
The event will held at 10 TOHO Cinemas across Japan and will have free admission, based on a lottery system. The application period is from Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 0:00 to Monday, March 3, 2025, at 23:59 JST. By Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 23:59, the winners will be notified. Registration emails will be sent to the winners, and to check in during the event, they will need a smartphone with communication capabilities.
