While Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular anime right now, not many fans know a lot about its protagonist, Yuji Itadori. For instance, who are Yuji Itadori’s parents, and do they have any significance in the story? Although this question would have been pretty easy to answer for fans of another series, Jujutsu Kaisen has rarely dropped any key information on Yuji’s background.
Fortunately, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 is finally going to share some details about Yuji’s parents. While his father Jin Itadori is a normal human being, there is something ominous about his mother, making her identity quite substantial for the plot.

Who is Yuji Itadori’s Mother in Jujutsu Kaisen?
Kaori Itadori is Yuji Itadori’s biological mother. While the series does not share a lot about her background, it gives fans a crucial piece of information. Kaori Itadori had long passed away before Yuji was conceived.
In reality, it was Kenjaku who conceived Yuji with Jin Itadori. This is because, not long after Kaori passed away, Kenjaku took over her body. While Wasuke Itadori (Yuji’s grandfather) warned his son Jin not to meddle with Kaori after she passed away, Jin ignored his concerns as he wished to have a child with his late wife.
As far as Kaori’s personality is concerned, given that the series has only shown her after she was possessed by Kenjaku, it is tough to say what she was like before her demise.

Why Does Kaori Itadori’s Identity Matter in Jujutsu Kaisen?
Kaori Itadori’s identity in Jujutsu Kaisen matters because it explains Yuji’s complex lineage. The reason Kenjaku entered Kaori’s body was to create a perfect vessel for the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna.
As later revealed in the manga, Jin Itadori was the reincarnation of Sukuna’s twin brother. Hence, conceiving a child with Jin allowed Kenjaku to create Yuji, a child with immense potential, immense strength, endurance, and cursed energy control. This is why Yuji was physically very strong even before he consumed Sukuna’s finger.
As such, despite the fact that Yuji was conceived by Jin and Kaori, Ryomen Sukuna became his great-uncle, and Kenjaku became his mother, owing to his very complex lineage.
Not to mention, Kenjaku’s time inside Kaori later allowed him to use the cursed technique engraved within her, the Antigravity System. If it wasn’t for the cursed technique, Kenjaku might have died at the hands of Yuki Tsukumo during the Culling Game Arc.
