A Couple of Cuckoos (Kakkou no Iinazuke) Season 2 is scheduled to premiere in July 2025, three years after Season 1 premiered. The harem and romantic comedy instantly became a hit, with the fandom enjoying every bit of it. Shin-Ei Animation and SynergySP were tasked with the animation of season 1, but in season 2, Nagi and Erika will be redesigned by Japanese animation studio Okuruto Noboro, known for Tomodachi Game.
A Couple of Cuckoos season 2 was announced in July 2024, and with only a few months to release, it released a new key visual and the first anime trailer through KADOKAWA Anime’s YouTube channel. Miki Yoshikawa’s masterpiece will be directed by Masakazu Hishida, who will be replacing Hiroaki Akagi and Yoshiyuki Shirahata.
A Couple of Cuckoos Season 2 Will Feature A Pentagonal Relationship
A Couple of Cuckoos Season 1 explored Nagi Umino and Erika Amano’s relationship with a twist in their life. Both of them were born on the same day, but due to a mishap, they were exchanged as babies. 17 years later, both of them got to know that neither of them had a blood relation with their family.
However, it was during this moment that both the families agreed to an arranged marriage between Nagi and Erika. As a result, they started to stay together under the same roof to give their relationship a shot. Unfortunately, Hiro Segawa, who has a crush on Nagi, and Sachi Umino, Nagi’s adoptive sister, also start to stay in the same house. Sachi’s feelings towards Nagi took a romantic turn after learning they are not blood-related.
In A Couple of Cuckoos Season 2, a new twist is added with the introduction of Ai Mochizuki, who is Nagi Umino’s childhood friend and has a crush on him. With all four females under the same roof as Nagi, A Couple of Cuckoos Season 2 is likely to become a “Pentagonal Relationship” from a “Quadrilateral Relationship.” Unfortunately, it all began with a mishap during the birth of Nagi and will take a bigger shape during the summer.
New Ending Theme Announced For A Couple of Cuckoos Season 2
The Ending Theme of A Couple of Cuckoos Season 2 was revealed on April 7, 2025. “Anata de nakucha” is the ending theme and is performed by the girl band 22/7, and it is the band’s 15th Single release. The trailer of the anime also featured the song and the song is available for pre-download.

While the story has the atmosphere and pace that is typical of Ai-chan, I was also drawn in by her cute smile and cool performance when it mattered, and I was more and more fascinated by Ai-chan as I read on.
