The long-awaited anime adaptation of Junji Ito’s iconic horror manga, Uzumaki, gets a two-and-a-half-minute preview of episode one on Adult Swim’s official YouTube channel. This fall anime series premieres September 29 at 12:30 am on Adult Swim and the next day on HBO Max.
Hiroshi Nagahama’s directed series is animated by studio DRIVE, with music composition by Colin Stetson, known for his work in the horror movie Hereditary and produced by Production I.G. and Adult Swim.
Uzumaki Anime Episode 1 Preview ft. Azami Kurotani
Uzumaki tells the story of two high school students, Shuichi Saito and Kirie Goshima, living in the Japanese coastal town of Kuruzuo Cho. A mysterious spiral-shaped curse befalls the town, making people obsessed with spiral shapes.
The early preview of the anime introduces Azami Kurotani voiced by Mariya Ise. Kirie Goshima takes her classmate to meet Shuichi at Kurouzo station. Shuichi at first glance of Azami, is shocked to see that she is affected by the spiral curse and insists that Kirie stay away from her. Later, Azami confronts Shuichi about why he ran away after meeting her whereas all the other guys are amazed by her looks. Shuichi points out the growing spiral on her forehead due to the curse looming in Kurouzo Cho.
