When it comes to Martial Arts, only a few titles can top Baki Hanma with its realistic and gory action sequences that leave enthusiasts in awe. The popularity of the manga and the anime is unmatched. With Baki Hanma last coming out in 2023, Netflix announced the anime adaptation of Baki Hanma’s sequel, Baki-dou, scheduled for release in 2026.
An official teaser for the upcoming anime has also been released by Netflix Anime on September 5, 2025. Like the original manga, Baki-dou is also created by Keisuke Itagaki. The excitement has skyrocketed for the Baki fans since they will get to see Baki in a new avatar. After a long and arduous rivalry with his father, Yujiro Hanma, Baki Hanma will face a new challenger, making his blood rush once again.
What Is The Story Of Baki-dou?
After overcoming his demonic father, Yujiro Hanma, Baki Hanma became the “World’s Strongest Boy.” He has become invincible as no one is close enough to put up a challenge for him. While defending his title at the Kouraken Underground Arena, Baki’s yawns are lasting longer than his fights. Gradually, it made him develop a laid-back personality and be lazy during training sessions. However, behind the curtains, there is an ongoing experiment to revive Musashi Miyamoto, a legendary samurai.
Initially, Musashi Miyamoto found it challenging to adapt to the modern era, but his adaptability soon made him a formidable warrior. He not only used his swordsmanship but also learned physical combat and soon started to climb up the ranks. With Baki finally having found a worthy opponent, he regains his old self. What follows is a legendary clash between a brute of the present vs. a warrior of the past.
More On Baki-dou
As of now, only the anime adaptation of Baki-dou has been confirmed, with Netflix streaming the anime in 2026. No extra details, such as the release date, number of episodes, or the cast and crew, have been revealed as of yet. As 2026 is approached, further information regarding the series will be published. However, there is ongoing speculation that the anime will have multiple seasons, given that the manga comprises 198 chapters, collected in 22 volumes.
The manga ran from March 20, 2014, to April 5, 2018, and was serialized under the Weekly Shounen Champion magazine. Baki-dou is the Fourth Series of the Baki franchise, with Grappler Baki, Baki, and Baki Hanma coming before it. Even after Baki-dou, there are a couple more series, signalling that there is a lot of time left before the anime officially concludes.
