After dealing with the Fire Devil, Chainsaw Man shifted its focus to the Falling Devil again. For the last couple of chapters, Yoru and Denji were almost battered by the Falling Devil, who claimed only to leave them “little” wounded. It was due to Yoru launching an attack on her with Tank Devil’s powers that caused the Falling Devil to chase after them with multiple projectiles coming their way. Chainsaw Man Chapter 209 finally saw the antagonist catching up with the two and showering them with weapon projectiles, until they lay on the ground.
After witnessing War Devil lying on the ground wounded, the Falling Devil deduced that the former has become weaker compared to what she was in the past. However, in that same moment, Yoru attacked her from behind. The Falling Devil blasted her away, but she appeared again to attack from above, and this went on happening until Yoru destroyed the other Devil’s torso.
A Forgotten Concept Resurfaces Through Yoru’s Mind
Yoru was crying while defeating the Falling Devil and said something about forgetting. Later, she corrected herself and said that she remembered something, but questioned herself why she remembered it. Suddenly, a nearby television was showing that there was an ongoing war between the USA and the Soviet Union, with the former launching nuclear weapons upon the latter. The term nuclear weapon hit her as she just blasted the Falling Devil.
However, the existence of the Nuclear Weapons Devil was erased, and humanity forgot about it. It further caused Yoru to be weakened as the concept of war was getting erased. With the sudden war, she has gained her former abilities, making her more potent. Unfortunately, it also leaves the question of how she was able to remember the Nuclear Weapons Devil, or rather, how humanity was able to create nuclear weapons, if the devil was gone.
Could Erased Devils Return in Chainsaw Man?
Yoru’s sudden rise in power was explained in Chainsaw Man Ch. 209. However, the reasoning could also be used for bringing back the erased Devils. Every Devil is made from an aspect of human fear, with more fear making it stronger and vice versa. If a Devil has been erased from existence, it could signify that people no longer fear that aspect. It was revealed in one of the past chapters that Pochita had eaten the Nuclear Weapons Devil before the happenings of the Chainsaw Man.
Since then, the concept of Nuclear Weapons was erased, making Yoru weak. When Yoru was introduced, she mentioned making the Chainsaw Man puke up the Nuclear Weapons Devil to regain her glory days. It might have happened that Denji puked the Nuclear Weapons Devil to help Yoru, or during the incident with Aging Devil when he puked other Devils. Another explanation surrounding Yoru gaining her powers is that humanity is reverting back to its former self. Even if they forget about something, they might remember it in the future.
For example, they forgot about the Nuclear Weapons, but through advancements, they created them again, bringing the Devil back to it. It potentially gives rise to two theories – Chainsaw Man puking up Devils could bring them back after being erased, or humanity itself is bringing the Devils back. However, at this point, these are all just theories, waiting for Tatsuki Fujimoto to reveal the truth.
