What is the story of Akane-Banashi?

Akane Osakiโ€™s father, Shinta, was a rakugoka, an individual who performs rakugo. Rakugo is a traditional form of Japanese comedy, where a single person narrates a long story involving multiple characters, playing each one of them and differentiating by distorting his tone, pitch, or through slight body movements, by sitting in one place.

Akane loved to watch her father perform rakugo. However, tragedy struck when her father, along with other students, was expelled from the Arakawa School before they got the shinโ€™uchi, the highest rank of rakugo. So, for the next six years, Akane secretly went to Shintaโ€™s former master and learned rakugo, and sets out to follow her fatherโ€™s footsteps and avenge him.
