Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo has been leveling up on their cursed techniques, bringing new and terrifying powers into place. This can be seen with the Simurian twins, Maru and Cross, who, unlike any other antagonists, have been terrorizing the world by manipulating the fundamental rules of reality itself. Gravity, physics, spatial logic, and even existence can be bent, twisted, or rewritten.
What’s more special yet unsettling about these powers is that they have a dual nature. While Cross’s technique brings in Harmony and Order, Maru brings Chaos and Destruction through his. These techniques are not opposite to one another, but opposing expressions of one reality-breaking system. And such a power is one that decides how the world is allowed to function.
Maru’s Cursed Technique – Chaos (Entropy Manipulation)
Out of the two twins, Maru’s cursed technique is the one that portrays Chaos, which is a part of their Chaos and Order Technique. Under Chaos, the character functions through the direct manipulation of entropy and natural laws, breaking apart reality and keeping everything under his control. Maru can distort gravity, temperature, motion, and physical order itself, which was shown during his fight against the Sewing Needle Sorcerer.
His powers of physical manipulation are also shown when he was able to boil water instantly and freeze it moments later, along with the ability to lift anything at rest. The most groundbreaking work from him was shown in Chapter 16, where he rotated Earth’s gravitational axis by 90 degrees, which is a skill beyond anyone’s imagination.
His ability to control gives him the right to even control death or major injury. The character can use his technique to reverse the effects of severe injuries, biological decay, and even death, which gives him a massive advantage on the battlefield.

Cross’ Cursed Technique – Order (Control and Stabilization)
Cross is the complete opposite of the twins in terms of his cursed technique. His technique of Harmony and order is the counterbalance to Maru’s chaos, which focuses on having control and regulation of entropy. Cross’s technique focuses more on restraint rather than destruction. As seen in other chapters, Cross can fully control Maru’s body when Maru is unconscious, demonstrating absolute dominance over chaotic output.
Cross acts as a limiter at times, preventing Maru from overusing his powers or, in instances where he has acted impulsively, which could later turn into some form of disaster. While Maru can make things unstable, Cross restructures everything to a stable form, which is shown when he transforms dormant materials into a functioning mothership.
Both Cross and Maru are physically and energetically linked through their third eye. This allows them to sense each other’s energy expenditure instantly. While Maru destabilizes reality, Cross imposes logic, certainty, and structure.
