Dr. Stone: Science Future is one of the most sought-after anime of 2025. Apart from being a great anime following the footsteps of science rather than supernatural abilities, the ongoing season is the fourth and final season of the anime. The first episode was released on January 9, 2025, and the second episode was released on January 16, 2025.
Since the name has science in it, the anime is surrounded with scientifically enhanced attributes. Dr. Stone: Science Future began with Senku Ishigami and friends traveling to the USA on a ship, to get closer to the Why Man. The first episode revealed two navigation terms โ Rhumb Line and the Great Circle Route. Likewise, episode two also featured another navigation method used by the Vikings.

Vikingsโ Secret Navigation Tool Revealed
Dr. Stone: Science Future episode 2 began with the continuation of the party that commenced at the end of episode 1. After everyone was treated with special drinks, the focus shifted to reaching the USA. Since there was no GPS present, the group relied on the method used by the Vikings for navigation. Ryusui revealed that his ancestors reached the USA 500 years before Christopher Columbus.
Even though there was no proper method for navigating the wild seas, the Vikings used the Sunstone to determine the position of the Sun and accordingly travel. However, since there was no Sunstone on the ship, the science group created a low-level GPS, through which they knew what time it was, thanks to the people in Japan, who had a room full of hourglasses and a big antenna.
How Sunstones Work?
On top of knowing the time, Kaseki used a device to locate the position of the Sun, and mixing the two helped them know the route to follow. But the group saw the weather become rainy, with dark clouds covering the sky. In this tense moment, Chrome took out a rugged stone. He asked Kohaku to chisel and shape. A clear squared stone emerged, which could create two images of things when looked through it.

Chrome pointed the stone towards the sky, leaving a small gap in the front of the stone. Even in an overcast sky, sunlight is scattered through the clouds. The scattered light is partially polarized and the sunstone can identify the polarized light. After waiving the stone here and there, they suddenly saw the brightest point, where the polarized light and stone aligned. Thus, pinpointing the location of the sun. When Senku saw it, he found that the stone was a prism. They used stone to navigate through the storm. After traveling for 40 days, they finally saw land at the end of the episode.
Dr. Stone: Science Future Episode 3 Will Reveal The USA
Dr. Stone: Science Future episode 3 is titled, โLight Trap in the Darkness.โ The end of episode 2 saw everyoneโs journey finally coming to an end after they discovered land ahead of them. Even though they had officially landed in the USA, they were excited to see it in the first place. Episode 3 might reveal Senkuโs group exploring the continent and finding the required things needed to fulfill their mission of finding the Why Man.

Going by the title, the USA might be unexplored for thousands of years, but in Senkuโs mind, there might be several beneficial things waiting for them. Moreover, they will need to create a rocket to go to the Moon. With NASA being in the USA, nothing could be a better place to build a spacecraft than there.
Dr. Stone: Science Future is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
