With the release of the first episode, we are finally entering the climax of the Demon Slayer anime. However, for those who have already watched the movie Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – To the Hashira Training, there is nothing new.

The episode opens with the Wind Hashira, Sanemi Shinazugawa, and the Serpent Hashira, Obanai Iguro. Both Hashira are at an abandoned temple, which turns out to be Muzan’s Infinity Temple. Once again, ufotable impressed with the visuals of the Hashira fighting demons and the Infinity Temple.

The Hashira Council Convenes

Next up in the episode is the Hashira meeting. While they are at it, the episode shifts to our main character, Tanjiro, recovering from his injuries after the events at the Swordsmith Village. Alongside him is Goto, talking about the incident.

Back at the Hashira meeting, it was disclosed that Kagaya Ubuyashiki will not be attending any meetings from now on. Kanroji and Tokito discussed the discovery that the Hashira can now take the upper hand on the Upper Moons if they get their marks. Since an all-out war is brewing because Muzan wants to get his hands on Nezuko, who is now immune to sunlight, all the Hashira agree to undergo training, except for one.

Tomioka’s Insolent Exit

The Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka, leaves the meeting and gives a cold shoulder to the other Hashira, which Shinazugawa sees as a sign of disrespect in that situation, as Tomioka’s actions clearly stated that he considers himself above others. Then, the Stone Hashira, Gyomei Himejima, proposes that they bring back the fandom’s Lord Tengen for training.

The Yellow Flash’s Cheesy Debut

The Yellow Flash, Zenitsu, makes an appearance, and being himself, starts being cheesy with Kiyo, Naho, Sumi, and Aoi. However, he is unaware of the fact that Nezuko is now immune to sunlight, and he sees her for the first time. He comes up with a moonlight/daylight pickup line. It all turns into giggles when Nezuko addresses him as Inosuke, as Inosuke taught her that by literally repeating his name. It was ironic how Nezuko got his name wrong, as Inosuke never got Tanjiro’s name right.

Tanjiro’s New Sword, Rengoku’s Legacy

As the episode continues, we get to see Tanjiro’s swordsmith, Haganezuka, delivering him a new sword. They pay tribute to the Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku, through it. While they are at it, Inosuke makes a flamboyant entry to inform Tanjiro that the Hashira have begun their training.

Ominous Crow at Tamayo’s Window

Towards the end of the episode, Tamayo is shown with a crow at her window, who sounds exactly like Muzan, escalating the situation. However, it was later disclosed that the crow was sent by the Ubuyashiki family, inviting Tamayo to research Nezuko.

The first Hashira Training Arc episode moves the Demon Slayer storyline steadily forward, balancing intense animated action with character moments. While the new theme song MY FIRST STORY ร— HYDE – Mugen isn’t as catchy, the visuals dazzle, mysteries intrigue, and an epic final confrontation builds anticipation amid rising stakes.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.
