An otaku dislikes a hiatus with all their heart. However, sometimes this break can decide how good or bad a series can turn out to be. Shinobu Takayama’s Haigakura is precisely at this crossroads. Here is all you need to know about the indefinite hiatus of Haigakura.
What is Haigakura about?
The story of Haigakura is set in a world where land is encompassed with the sky below and the ocean above it! When the Four Evil Gods, who are also the four pillars for sustaining the world, run away, people called Kashikans appear in the scene. They are tasked with hunting down these Evil gods. However, everything is not as straight as it seems. Ichiyou is a Kashikan who has taken up this job of being a hunter, quite reluctantly. His father, a tiger has been appropriated as a pillar to sustain the world. Unless Ichiyou captures these Gods, he cannot free his father!
What’s the Reason Behind Haigakura’s Indefinite Hiatus?
Haigakura hits an indefinite hiatus following an apology and a streaming broadcast delay notice on 18 November 2024 on the anime’s official website. The anime premiered on October 7, 2024, having aired 7 episodes thus far with the total number scheduled to be 13. After discussions with the production staff and the production committee of Typhoon Graphics, the decision to stray from the original broadcast schedule was implemented.

The website cited the reason for the hiatus. It is to maintain the quality of animation and production of the series. It was surmised that more time was required to deliver a final product capable of living up to the charm of the narrative. The new broadcast schedule has not been shared as yet. Fans can only speculate how long this hiatus is going to be. The Haigakura Production Committee apologized to its fans for the delay as well! Maybe it’s for the best.
The anime industry is riddled with cases where anime with great potential has fallen off due to time constraints and production deadlines. Such a hiatus can only encourage fans to hope that Episode 8 onwards of Haigakura can deliver to its fullest potential!
Fan Reactions to Haigakura’s Indefinite Hiatus
With the Haigakura Production Committee’s effort to communicate with the fan base, we thought to see what the fans themselves had to say! Haigakura doesn’t have much of a promotional footprint. Despite that, there was a plethora of fans welcoming the news of the delay.

Gintama and Attack on Titan Hiatus
There is truth in that positivity. There have been instances where titles have taken long hiatuses only to return and deliver with the utmost quality. The 3-year hiatus by Gintama is notable in this regard. The Shonen comedy title initiated a 3-year hiatus between its standard definition ending and its intense Shogun Assassination Arc. Suffice it to say, it was worth it. Or even take Attack on Titan for example. The series came to a standstill in 2013, only to return with a bang in 2017! Don’t worry as yet. Let’s wait and see, we might not have to wait that long!
