Saiyuki Reload Blast Manga Returns After 5 Years: New Chapter Releases on September 28

Saiyuki Reload Blast manga sequel to Saiyuki Reload by Kazuya Minekura (Story & Art) is set to return after a five-year-long hiatus. The announcement was made through Ichijinsha’s Comic Zero Sum magazine on Wednesday, revealing that the manga will be returning in the next issue of the magazine on September 28. The manga will also feature on the cover of the issue of the magazine and will include two bromide cards with exclusive art.

Saiyuki Reload Blast Manga: Finale

Saiyuki Reload Blast Manga will be the final installment of Kazuya Minekura’s “Saiyuki” series, following “Saiyuki” and “Saiyuki Reload.” Saiyuki was serialized in GFantasy from February 18, 1997, to January 18, 2002, spanning over 56 chapters and compiled into 9 volumes. The sequel, Saiyuki Reload was serialized in Comic ZERO-SUM from March 28, 2002, to June 27, 2009, covering the story in 66 chapters compiled into 10 volumes. Saiyuki Reload Blast started serializing in Comic Zero Sum on December 28, 2009. However, in 2013, the serialization was slowed due to the author’s health concerns.

The third and most recent volume of the manga was released in October 2017. “Saiyuki Reload Blast” went on hiatus in 2017, resumed again in 2019, but soon entered another hiatus. The “Saiyuki” series has also inspired a variety of other works including spinoff manga such as “Saiyuki Gaiden” and “Saiyuki Ibun,” three TV anime series, an anime movie, three OVA series, and several stage musicals. Saiyuki Reload Blast anime by Studio Platinum Vision, inspired by the manga aired from  July 5, 2017, to September 20, 2017, for 12 episodes in total.

In Shangri-La, humans and demons lived together in harmony until someone attempted to revive an ancient evil demon resulting in a wave of creatures attacking humans. To stop this event, a monk, Genjo Sanzo, sets out on a journey to the West, accompanied by three companions who are half-human and half-demon. After a long journey, they reach the edge of India, where they face tougher battles and strange events. They also get to face a tragic fate from 500 years ago. What will be the result of this journey and will the party succeed in their mission?
