It has been several years since Hideaki Sorachi’s Gintama was televised. Fans adored the anime since it was the source of unlimited laughter for them. After almost seven years, the fans will enjoy the same kind of laughter with Gintama’s spin-off 3-Z Ginpachi Sensei. The anime aired on October 6, 2025, and from its pilot, the old vibe is being felt.
Unlike the original series, 3-Z Ginpachi Sensei is based on a light novel, written by Tomohito Osaki, and illustrated by Hideaki Sorachi. Bandai Namco Pictures is tasked with the animation, with Natsumi Higashida and Makoto Moriwaki being the director and chief director, respectively. With the most absurd franchise, the expectations are running high on what it will bring to the plate.
3-Z Ginpachi Sensei Will Be The Most Bizarre Anime Of 2025
3-Z Ginpachi Sensei (Japanese: 3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei), also known as Gintama – Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class, has the potential to become the best comedy series of 2025. When it comes to expectations, fans can expect the same fourth-wall-breaking, absurd, and hilarious takes on real-world trends. The premise is new, the same characters will be in new avatars, different storytelling, but the same unpredictable comedy can be expected.
The pilot featured a situation where the school principal pressured Gintoki to make sure his students scored 80 in the exam. However, the beauty of the franchise is that it can change its plot randomly, yet it will still be funny. In simpler words, the chef is different, but the people will enjoy the same taste as before. Perfect blend of comedy, emotional storytelling, and entertaining characters. It will uphold its fearlessness, creativity, and chaos, without feeling remorse.

3-Z Ginpachi Sensei Brings Back Comedy Gold
The sequel to Gintama was one of the most anticipated anime of 2025, and likewise, the pilot did not disappoint. With anime going mainstream, everyone wants to see what the plot of an anime is, character development, animation, etc., but in the case of Gintama, it is how bizarre things can get. From the very beginning, bizarre things have begun, with the anime beginning with a surprise cameo from the original samurai Gintoki Sakata. He passed the baton to the sensei of class 3-Z, whose name is also Gintoki. From there began sensei Gintoki’s journey of controlling a class full of delinquents and making them study, and scoring above 80 in the upcoming exam.
Seems like a pretty normal plot, but once people actually start watching it, they will know how the franchise creates a circumstance that is anything but normal. Parodies have already started from the first episode, with Dragon Ball and the Gintama franchise. Be you are a new anime fan or an old one, everyone will feel excruciating pain in the stomach and tears rolling down their face due to the hilarious circumstances and the situations that the characters will go through.
Old Characters Return In 3-Z Ginpachi Sensei
3-Z Ginpachi Sensei has brought back the old characters and given them new roles. Gintoki Sakata has become the teacher of Class 3-Z, having previously been a samurai. Kagura and Shinpachi Shimura, who were Gintoki’s followers, became his students. Captain of the Shinsengumi – Okita Sougo, wanted fugitive – Kotarou Katsura, government official – Hasegawa Taizou, and others have all become students of Class 3-Z.
Surprisingly, Hedoro, who is a demon, also became a student. Prince Hata, popularly known as Prince Baka, is the principal of the school, and Jii is the vice-principal. Elizabeth, a large white duck who is the sibling of Prince Hata, is also a student of Gintoki Sakata in 3-Z Ginpachi Sensei. Lastly, Landlady Otose is the Chairman of the school. Additional characters are set to appear in the upcoming episodes of the anime.
