JJK Modulo Chapter 8 focused on the Simurian Race. A young Cross and Maru were showcased alongside Dura. They were trying to build a canal to facilitate easier transport between Shaama and Deskunte. JJK Modulo Chapter 9 explored the lore behind the third eye of the Simurian race and features why they came to Earth.
The reason behind it is pretty heartbreaking. Dabura is one of the main characters in the chapter and played a major role in its unfolding. Unlike Jujutsu Kaisen, Gege Akutami has already begun to showcase the backstory from the very beginning. It sets the tone for the story and establishes a connection with the present.
The Pain and Power Behind the Simurians’ Third Eye
The most eye-catching feature of the Simurian race is their third eye. The third eye channels the cursed energy, Rolloluca. All of the Simurian race sheds tears through the third eye, but the Rumelians are a bit different. While every tribe sheds tears when they are born and die, Rumelians also shed tears upon the death of Kalyans. The shedding of tears is extremely painful for them, especially on the brain.
The War Between Rumel And Deskunte
JJK Modulo Chapter 9 is titled, “Dura Val Bobibbi Mechika, Part 2.” The chapter focuses on the war between Rumel and Deskunte. During a meeting, the death of the Deskunte clan leader’s daughter at the hands of a Kalyan was discussed, which happened in chapter 8. Speculations arose that Kalyan was never fully sealed, and the mining by Rumel disturbed its slumber.
As a means of apology, Deskunte demanded 90% of the Rumelian territory, including the canal. Rejecting the offer would lead to a deadly clash. Ultimately, it led to a duel, where the Dura fought for the Rumelians and Dabura fought for the Deskunte. No one could deny the duel since it could lead to further repercussions.
Unfortunately, Dura and Dabura, who were once friends, found themselves on opposite sides during the battle. Dabura was forced to fight, with his daughter held as hostage. Dabura was victorious in the battle. However, before the fight, Dura cautioned everyone in the arena that the Deskunte leader was trying to exploit the others in the name of religious war. His motive was to get hold of the Mul, a special ore that can convert Rolluluca into all forms of energy.
Venturing To Earth
After Dura’s death, it was just a matter of time until the Deskunte attacked Rumel. While everyone was tense, Dabura came to their rescue, saying that he had come to fulfill Dura’s wish. Since Dabura promised to look after the Rumelians, it was his way of honoring his friend, Dura. Following Dura’s ideals, Maru and Cross proposed the idea of leaving the planet and venturing beyond the skies to find the neighbor they have been looking for so long. Under Dabura’s leadership, his peers, along with Cross and Maru, set out on a journey to discover a land of peace.
