Popular shounen manga, Jujutsu Kaisen, finally concluded on September 30, 2024, after running for more than six years. Due to the popularity of the manga, the mangaka, Gege Akutami, earned worldwide recognition. Gege Akutamiโ€™s magnum opus was even adapted into an anime and won multiple awards, with the third season of Jujutsu Kaisen scheduled to release in January 2026.

After Jujutsu Kaisen, Gege Akutami is coming back with his next project, which is called โ€œMojuro.โ€ He will be the co-creator alongside Yuji Iwasaki. Mojuro is a spin-off/sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen and will feature the descendants of Yuta Okkutsu!

SPOILERS AHEAD!

Mojuro Brings A Different Aspect Of Jujutsu Kaisen

Gege Akutami, along with Cypher Academy‘s famed illustrator Yuji Iwasaki, brings the sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen. The series is named Mojuro (English: Modulo), and will feature the grandchildren of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenโ€™in. Yuuka Okkotsu and Tsurugi Okkotsu are the protagonists of Mojuro. While Gege Akutami never really highlighted any romantic relationships in Jujutsu Kaisen, he has taken a different path in Mojuro.

He shipped Yuta Okkutsu and Maki Zenโ€™in, creating the first official couple of the JJK-verse, and thankfully, it was fruitful for him since he got the protagonists of his upcoming manga. Mojuro begins where Jujutsu Kaisen ends, and will reveal that Yuta and Maki passed away in their old age after leading a happy life, with their grandchildren picking up the baton.

When Will Mojuro Chapter 1 Come Out?

Mojuro will be featured in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #41, which is scheduled to release on September 8, 2025. The manga is expected to run for half a year, if everything goes according to plan. It is a short project and will run for three volumes. Even though the ending of Jujutsu Kaisen received mixed reviews from the fans, Gege Akutami is back with the sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen, with many hoping it to bring back the glorious days of the series.

Gege Akutamiโ€™s Comment On Mojuro

Gege Akutami released a statement with Mojuro coming out in less than a week. According to him, if things go according to his plans, there might be other projects in the future too. Gege Akutami said,

Hello, itโ€™s Akutami. Itโ€™s been a while. While serializing Jujutsu Kaisen (jujutsu from here), I received several offers for spinoffs written by others. However, because manga is a medium where things can easily get out of my control, I was afraid of the title spreading in ways I couldnโ€™t manage, so at the time, I couldnโ€™t accept those offers. But when this particular offer came, and I thought about how it might expand the main story, delve deeper into its setting, or even shift eras entirely, I realized that if it were set in a parallel line, it could open the door to many different projects.
