Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 125 was released after almost a month, and with it, the tension only seemed to rise. For quite a few chapters, the Anti-Kaiju Defence Force Troops have been battling the Meireki Era Monster, popularly known as Mei in the fandom. Initially, it was thought to be Kaiju No. 9, but later, it turned out to be the most destructive monster in human history.
The focus shifted between the protagonists and Mei with each chapter. While Mei seemed to have an upper hand initially, the last chapter saw Kikoru and Kafka join forces to take down the monster once and for all. With Kikoru Shinomiya now possessing the powers of two Number Weapons, Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 125 saw the duo, along with Mina Ashiro, giving their all in one final attack.
Kikoru Shinomiya Finally Located Meireki Era Monsterโs Core
Using Kaiju No. 1โs Number Weapon, Kikoru Shinomiya has been rigorously searching for the Meireki Era Monsterโs weak spot so that Kafka can land blows that will hurt the monster. With no time to waste, she starts to search for its core since destroying it would put an end to the fight once and for all. Searching for such a prolonged period takes a heavy toll on her body as she starts to bleed. However, she is determined to find the core, and after locating multiple cores, she finally finds the main core and relays the message to Kafka Hibino.
Kafka Hibino Clears The Path For The Final Blow
It was planned that after Kikoru Shinomiya and Kafka Hibino cleared the way, Mina Ashiro would use the Keraunos to destroy the core. With the Meireki Era Monsterโs core located, Kafka lands a blow on the monster to send it a few steps backward and make it land on the target point. Having found the monster right where she wants, Mina Ashiro is ready to fire the Keraunos and wrap up the Kaijuโs chapter forever.

Will The Meireki Era Monster Perish?
It is unclear whether Mina Ashiroโs blow will be the end of the fight, or the Meireki Era Monster still has something up its sleeve. The antagonist has been alive for ages, and it seems unnatural that it would go down so easily. It may happen that the core is a fake since there are tons of cores in its body, belonging to the other monsters it fused with. The main one could belong to Kaiju No. 9, who was also a host of the monster.
Being a numbered Kaiju, his core is also quite potent, and Kikoru Shinomiya may have located it instead of the Meireki Era Monsterโs core. It could weaken the creature, but making it perish seems unlikely. However, all these are speculations at the moment, and everything will be cleared with Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 126.
