One Piece Chapter 1158 is scheduled to release on August 30, 2025, after a weekโs gap. However, before the official release, the spoilers have been leaked, suggesting some major revelations in the upcoming chapter. While the chapter will continue with Rocks and Haraldโs story, it will feature some exciting characters, too. Out of all the happenings, the one thing that caught everyoneโs attention was the name โKozuki Moria.โ
For most of One Piece, fans were familiar with Gecko Moria, one of the former Seven Warlords, but the latest spoilers gave rise to multiple fan theories suggesting that Gecko Moria might be a member of the Kozuki Clan. Even the clues point towards the same thing. Since the leaks, the One Piece fandom has become busy with fan theories, with new ones coming up every time. While there is no confirmation surrounding how much truth there is in these fan theories, it is not stopping them from circulating and creating a proper discussion on social media. Many of them are pretty interesting and have been mentioned in the article.
Gecko Moria Is From Wano?

As per the spoilers, the information about โKozuki Moriaโ was revealed on the cover story of One Piece. It mentioned a certain hero named โKozuki Moriaโ who fought Kaido and has a grave dedicated to him. While the location of the grave has not been revealed, it is speculated to be Wano, especially since the fight between Gecko Moria and Kaido took place in the Ringo province of Wano. With it, fans have started bringing up the theory of Gecko Moria being a former Daimyo in Wano.
As Reddit user boyplunger56 pointed out, in Japanese, “Gecko” is written as “ๆๅ “, which means “moonlight.” Changing the sequence of the word “ๅ ๆ” makes it “Kozuki.” It might so happen that after losing his entire crew against Kaido, Moria left Wano, since he was unable to protect his crewmates and felt embarrassed to face his peers. Also, if looked at closely, Moriaโs primary weapon against Kaido was a sword, which is the most used weapon in Wano. Some might say that almost everyone uses a sword, but it is different in Moriaโs case. When he lost against Kaido, he let go of his samurai and left using his sword.
However, to accompany his Devil Fruit abilities, he used a giant pair of scissors, which could be separated from the middle and used like a sword, but it was not an actual sword. The forming of a grave might also have been his idea to ditch his Wano identity once and for all. To start from scratch, he changed his name to Gecko from Kozuki (interchanging the Japanese syllables) and started his revenge plan against Kaido. It might be one of the reasons why Gecko Moria was able to extract Ryumaโs soul, even though Ryuma was a treasure to Wano. All these things point towards him being a resident of Wano.

Gecko Moria May Have Been A Former Daimyo
Gecko Moriaโs connection to Wano could be more than just a resident. He might be a former Daimyo in Wano, especially if he, being a member of the Kozuki Clan, holds some truth. When Gecko Moria was introduced during the Thriller Bark arc, he was shown to be wearing trousers with patterns of four squares together. Like the Japanese syllables, if the pattern is slightly tilted, it will resemble the sigil of the Takeda Clan, a clan filled with powerful samurai during the Heian Period.
It forms a historical reference, and it has been revealed time and again that Eiichiro Oda does nothing unplanned. Every small detail is some kind of revelation to something massive, and that is the beauty of Oda senseiโs narrative, which binds everything together. Everything depends on the upcoming One Piece chapters, as it will then be revealed whether the fan theories turn out to be true or just a piece of Reddit threads.
