LAZARUS anime is scheduled to release on April 5, 2025, and is being directed by Cowboy Bebop’s fame Shinichiro Watanabe. With less than two weeks left for its release, LAZARUS announced that Kamasi Washington, Bonobo, and Floating Points will be a part of the anime following their music being presented in the anime.
These musicians will be contributing three singles each to the upcoming anime. The announcement has considerably shaken the fandom since all three are quite popular in the music industry. Even though MAPPA and Sola Entertainment are producing the anime, everyone is looking forward to experiencing the Opening Theme, which Kamasi Washington will perform.

LAZARUS Brings Up A Musical Galore
Lazarus is already one of the most anticipated anime of 2025, and the addition of musical powerhouses like Kamasi Washington, Bonobo, and Floating Points makes it all the more compelling.
Kamasi Washington
Kamasi Washington is one of the most famous saxophonists worldwide and will perform the opening theme, titled โVortex,โ for LAZARUS. He has multiple awards under his name and released several albums like The Proclamation, Fearless Movement, The Epic, etc. Washington has worked both, as a leader and a sidemen in his musical career.
“Vortex,” the opening theme I composed for Shinichirล Watanabeโs new anime series Lazarus, is out now! Honored to be part of this incredible project and Watanabeโs vision.
Bonobo
Along with Kamasi Washington, Bonobo is also linked with Adult Swimโs upcoming original series. Bonobo will perform Dark Will Fall, featuring American singer and former American Idol participant Jacob Lusk. Bonoboโs official YouTube channel has released a 2-minute and 16-second video of Dark Will Fall, with the full soundtrack scheduled to be released on April 11. The lyrics to the song are available on the internet. His official music videos like Rosewood and Tides have crossed the million views mark on YouTube.
Iโm extremely excited and honored to share news of my first full-length TV score. I was fortunate enough to be invited to contribute music for Lazarus – a forthcoming anime series directed by Shinichirล Watanabe.
For those unfamiliar, Shinichirล Watanabe is responsible for the legendary Cowboy Bebop, which is one of my favourite shows and also one of the biggest moments in anime history.
My work on the Lazarus project is being released as a full Bonobo album on April 11th. Itโs some of my favorite music Iโve ever made. A single from the album is out today – โDark Will Fallโ featuring the amazingย Jacob Lusk on vocals, so massive thanks to Shinichirล-san, Jacob, and everyone else who worked on the project. I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did being a part of the journey
Floating Points
British electronic musician Samuel Shepherd, popular as Floating Points, is the third name on LAZARUSโ latest announcement. For LAZARUS, he created the soundtrack Dexion, which will be released on April 11, 2025. However, before its official release, a 9-minute music video was released on Floating Pointsโ YouTube channel, which showcased the music artist’s creativity and familiarity with electronic music. He has tons of music videos on his YouTube channel, with Silhouettes and Last Bloom having more than 650K views.
โDexionโ is out today! A few years ago Watanabe San tracked me down to a Tokyo hotel where he told me I was making the music for his new anime. It felt like a dream, and here is the first track of an improvised session that we made for the film with Miriam, Valentina & Susumu to make part of the score for hte new anime LAZARUS.
