What is the Clown Potion in LOTM?
The Clown Potion is the 8th Sequence of the Seer Pathway in Lord of Mysteries. The potion enhances the physicality of the Beyonder, since a clown has better control over their body because of all the acrobatics and circus performances they do. It will enable them to gain control over their facial expressions and bodily functions. The Beyonder will be able to portray any expression they feel like showing and perform using any part of their body. For anyone who wants to advance to the next Sequence of the Seer Pathway faster, they need to follow the Acting Method, where the Beyonder acts according to the name of the potions they take.
In case of the Clown Potion, a Beyonder needs to act like a clown and perform acrobatics. Another method to catalyze the digestion of the Potion is through Sealed Artifacts like the Cloth Puppet or performing Divine Rituals. To make a Clown Potion, a Beyonder needs to mix the following ingredients:
- 80 Mililiters of Pure Water
- 5 Drops of Jimsonweed Juice
- 7 Grams of Black-Rimmed Sunflower Powder
- 10 Grams of Golden Cloak Grass Powder
- 3 Drops of Poisonous Hemlock
- 1 Entire Human-Faced Rose
- A Crystal Horn of a Mature Hornacis Gray Mountain Goat
A Clown Beyonder characteristic can also be used as a main ingredient if others are unavailable. Upon consuming the Potion, the Beyonder will be able to hear the words Hornacis and Flegrea, and their spirituality and blood cells will start to absorb the potion.
However, these methods are dangerous and can even lead to death, unlike the safer Acting Method. After taking the Clown Potion, it must be properly digested; failing to do so can cause mental instability and loss of control for a Beyonder. The potion’s name carries a double meaning; the first refers to the potion itself, while the second reflects the idea of clowns who smile despite their pain, much like Klein, who continues to endure hardships while facing difficult challenges.

Although temporary, these weapons are as strong as steel and sharp enough to cut through flesh and bone. Even a simple deck of cards can be turned into deadly tools with this skill. In line with a clown’s acrobatic nature, the potion also gives the Beyonder an extraordinary sense of balance and agility, allowing feats beyond human limits. It further heightens spirituality and provides brief moments of premonition.
A Beyonder who takes the Clown Potion gains several remarkable abilities. They can perceive what’s hidden, such as sensing how many people are behind a door, and can anticipate an opponent’s movements to react in advance. The potion also grants a form of divination, allowing the Beyonder to instinctively avoid fatal attacks, making it useful for both offense and defense. In addition, it enables them to hear the voices of higher-sequence Beyonders from the Seer Pathway. However, this power carries risks if those higher-sequence individuals worship an evil deity; lower-level Beyonders may be influenced to follow the same path, potentially turning into monsters and losing control.
