The sequel of the famous anime Shangri-La Frontier, Shangri-La Frontier Season 2 by Studios C2C has received a new key visual and a roster of new cast members. The visual features Sunraku, Emul, Psyger-0, and others confronting a Lycagon at night.
The anime is based on the Japanese Manga “Shangri-La Frontier” by Ryousuke Fuji (Art) & Katarina (Story). The manga has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine since July 15, 2020, and has around 18 volumes till now. The first season of anime adaption by Studio C2C aired from October 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, for 25 episodes. Shangri-La Frontier Season 2 is set to release on October 13, 2024.
Shangri-La Frontier Season 2: New Cast Members
The new cast members include Akane Akitsu portrayed by Yuka Terasaki and Ceecrue portrayed by Natsuki Hanae. The new cast members revealed for the second season of the anime also commented on the occasion of the announcement.
- Akane Akitsu portrayed by Yuka Terasaki is a pioneer (player) who was noticed by Tenpa’s Siegwurm, one of the “Seven Strongest Species,” and received a special mark (curse) from them. He has a happy and active personality, wears a fox mask, and has the appearance of a ninja.
I will be taking part in “Shangri-La Frontier” as Akane Akitsu! I plan to play the bright, straightforward, and energetic Akane-chan with lots of energy and fun. With Sunraku, you can immerse yourself in the anime as if you were playing a game with Shangri-La Frontier! I’m really looking forward to playing with her as Akane Akitsu from the second season!

- Ceecrue portrayed by Natsuki Hanae is the son of Weiss Ash and the elder brother of Emuru. He wears armor and talks like a samurai. He introduces Akane Akitsu, a pioneer acknowledged by Siegwurm of Tenpa, one of the “Seven Strongest Species,” to the Rabbids to introduce her to Weiss Ash.
I first encountered online games, including MMOs, when I was in elementary school, and ever since then I’ve been hooked and devoted most of my youth to them. I’d love to play “Shangri-La Frontier”! It’s a dreamlike space! This time I’ve been given the role of Ceecrue. I hope to bring out the best in him and play him so that he becomes a familiar NPC and a memorable character for players who have actually played the same game for a long time! Thank you!

Rakurou Hizutome is a second-year high school student who loves to play and conquer trash games under his game name ‘Sunraku’ despite any bugs and glitches in the game. After being burnt out from playing trash games and at the suggestion of his favorite game store owner, Rakurou decides to play the popular VR game Shangri-La Frontier. With the experience in trash games, he takes on the challenges as he progresses through the game.
