Takopi’s Original Sin Anime Release Date, Trailer, Theme Songs and More

The anime galore of 2025 continues, with some popular anime getting released one after another. Following the trend, 2025 Summer saw a new addition to the list of upcoming releases through Hero Complex fame Taizan 5’s Takopi’s Original Sin. Takopi’s Original Sin (Takopii no Genzai) is a short manga with only 16 chapters, collected in two Tankobon volumes. It was first serialized on December 10, 2021, and its run ended on March 22, 2022.

Shinya Iino is in charge of direction and story-writing, with Enishiya being the animation studio. In March 2025, it was revealed that Yoshimi Kohara and Anna Nagase will be voicing Marina Kirarazaka and Naoki Azuma, respectively. On May 20, 2025, Takopi’s Original Sin released a Promotional Video featuring the opening and ending theme, along with the broadcast details and key visuals.

When Will Takopi’s Original Sin Anime Release?

Takopi’s Original Sin anime is scheduled to release on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 00:00 (JST). The anime will be broadcast on TBS and its subsidiary channels. Based on the Japanese Standard Time, here are the release dates of the anime in different parts of the world.

Opening And Closing Theme Song Of Takopi’s Original Sin Anime Revealed

Along with the Promotional Video, the opening and closing theme song of Takopi’s Original Sin has also been revealed. The Opening Theme is named “Happy Lucky Chance” and is performed by Ano, while the Closing Theme, “Garasu no Sen,” is performed by Tele. Both artists have released a statement regarding their songs getting featured in the anime.

Ano said,

I wrote the opening theme for “Tacopi’s Original Sin”.
I had read the original manga and I could relate to the heavy and painful parts of the work, so when I was approached about this project, I was really worried about how to write a song about it. I
wrote about my time in junior high school, when I felt like there was no color around me, and that’s something I still fall into today. I hope
this song can be of some comfort to those who watch the anime, and to those who find it difficult to ask for help or express their honest feelings.
I’m looking forward to watching it myself.

Tele said,

I can’t help but identify with the existence of Tacopi.
Because in one way, music is also like a happy tool.
Every time I reread the manga, I want to tell them I understand.
The pain of not understanding anything, but only feeling “I just want to save you, I want to help you.”
Trying to hold the hand of someone you can’t see is the most difficult thing of all.
That’s why I wrote this song, hoping that people would breathe calmly just for the duration of the song, and not just for Taco Peep. All the characters in this work are gasping for air like a fish starving for oxygen.
All I could do for them was write this song. I layered the sounds as if I was sending a letter to an old acquaintance. I’m honored to have been involved in a work that makes me feel that way. Thank you so much.

Takopi’s Original Sin Anime Plot

Happian is a squid-like alien who left his home planet to bring happiness across the universe. He lands on Earth only to find himself suffering from the constant fear of captivity by the Earth’s inhabitants. However, his suffering came to a halt when he was rescued by a girl named Shizuka Kuze. Shizuka feeds him, takes care of him, and names him Takopii. Since Shizuka has done so much for him, Takopii feels that he should focus on making her happy.

But it is easier said than done because Shizuka is an unsmiling girl who is a victim of bullying at school, does not have a father, and her mother rarely comes home. The only thing that can uplift Shizuka’s mood is her dog, Chappy. Takopii has taken a massive task on his tentacles, and even though he tries to help her, the results always come with unintended consequences. Through their time together, Takopii slowly understands human psychology and gets closer to his motive of spreading happiness.
