Content Overseas Distribution Association (CODA) members Aniplex and TOHO filed a request with a U.S. District Court to disclose information on the accounts posting leaks that made anime images/ clips available on social media platform – X (Twitter), even before the official broadcast date and time. The request was filed in June 2024; on August 20, the court issued an order to disclose information, and on August 30, the delivery process was carried out.

Unauthorized images/ videos shared before the broadcast of the anime Jujutsu Kaisen copyrighted by TOHO and Demon Slayer copyrighted by Aniplex on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) garnered a large viewer count, which sits negatively for both the rights holders, ethically and financially.
