Kei Urana’s Gachiakuta finally premiered on Crunchyroll on July 6, 2025. It has been a year since the anime was announced, and as the days passed, more details were revealed. Gachiakuta was first serialized in February 2022 under the Weekly Shounen Magazine and has been collected into 15 tankoubon volumes. The extremely popular manga released the first episode, and likewise, it set the tone of the plot.
With Rudo Surebrec as the protagonist, the fandom is quite excited to see whether the anime can repeat the manga’s success. While manga readers are familiar with the plot, anime watchers got their first taste with Gachiakuta episode 1. However, one thing that seemed to confuse them was why Rudo’s hands seemed so necrotic.

How Did Rudo’s Hands Become Necrotic?
At first glance, Rudo’s necrotic hands might scare anyone because of how ghostly they look. However, they will prove to be one of the best things that happened to him. While he had them since the beginning, it is unknown how they came about. Many, including Rudo, believe them to be a manifestation of torture or a curse that took place because of his father’s evil deeds.
During his younger days, his scarred hands made him suffer through excruciating pain, but there was no way to stop it. It was not until his adoptive father, Regto, gave him a pair of gloves that seemed to reduce the pain. Due to his hands, other people avoid him, and children of his age make fun of him. Even among outcasts, he is treated as an outcast because of something he possesses unknowingly.

Rudo’s Necrotic Hands Are Blessings In Disguise
Rudo’s hands may have caused him a lot of trouble emotionally and physically, but in the long run, they would be quite beneficial for him. The spirit energy of a person that can be imbued within other objects to make them weapons is known as anima. His necrotic hands will help him build up anima, allowing him to manipulate other objects.
His gloves, which were gifted by Regto, have a better use apart from being a part of his fashion. Those gloves absorbed the anima within Rudo from his hands, which happened to be the access point for activating his abilities. Absorbing the anima also significantly reduced his pain. In the future, the anima would help him turn trash into weapons and fight Trash Beasts and antagonists.
