Takeru Hokazono’s award-winning action manga Kagurabachi will receive an anime adaptation soon. In a recent news break, Toyo Keizai reported that CyberAgent and Shochiku won the bidding war for producing Kagurabachi anime and CyberAgent’s anime studio Cygames Pictures will handle the animation.
Kagurabachi is an action manga, written and illustrated by Takeru Hokazono. It started serialization on September 18, 2023, in Weekly Shonen Jump. With only 59 chapters released so far, the Kagurabachi series has already bagged the Next Manga Award 2024 (Print) and Fan Favorite Newcomer at Anime Expo 2024.

Why CyberAgent and Shochiku?
Major production studios competed for the title but CyberAgent’s Cygames Pictures and Shochiku Production pulled the deal. MAPPA, WIT Studio, Cloverworks, and other major studios already have heavy hitters in their lineup, and adding Kagurabachi will potentially increase their workload reported Toyo Keizai.
About Cygames and Shochiku
Cygames Pictures is known for the Winter 2024 series Brave Bang Bravern and the studio behind the recently announced anime adaptation of The Summer Hikaru Died.
Founded in 1895, the Shochiku Group is involved with the production, publicity, and distribution of live-action, animation, and special-effect motion pictures produced by Bandai Namco Filmworks(mostly).

While the production timeline and broadcast remain undisclosed, industry observers are analyzing this partnership between CyberAgent and Shochiku.
